Kyneton Wine Palm shortlisted in Victorian Awards

The Kyneton Botanical Gardens is a drawcard for the visitor economy and its location nestled along the Campaspe River is ideal for locals and tourists to enjoy public open space.

It is also a perfect spot to find all kinds of hidden gems like the endangered Chilean Wine Palm which has recently been shortlisted in the 2024 National Trust’s Victorian Tree of the Year awards, putting the Gardens well and truly on the map!

Kyneton’s endangered Chilean Wine Palm is the largest of its kind in Victoria standing 13.5 metres tall and is located near the entrance of the Gardens. Find out more about the Palm here.

Chilean Wine Palm shortlisted for Victorian Tree of the Year by the National Trust.

Residents often wonder where the funds go in the council budget or what my stance is as a Candidate in the 2024 Council Election on the local economy and this is a great example.

The Macedon Ranges Shire Council allocated funds in the 2024/25 budget to invest further in the Kyneton Botanical Garden’s Master Plan and employing new staff to assist in bringing out it’s best features, which is money well spent. This allocation was in response to requests from many members of the community.

Supporting local businesses is holistic and by investing in our public open space and assets such as the Kyneton Botanical Gardens we not only contribute to our immediate health and wellbeing, but also maintain spaces like this for future generations while attracting tourists to the area.

Voting is now open for the Victorian Tree of the Year so please get behind our very own Chilean Wine Palm. Vote here.

And of course it is the perfect time of year to visit the Gardens and check out this magnificent palm and the other attractions and while you are at it, wander down the street for coffee or lunch, browse in some great shops and purchase some treats for yourself or friends ๐Ÿ™‚

Best wishes Chilean Wine Palm and congratulations to the Friends of Kyneton Botanical Gardens on your recognition as caretakers by being a finalist in this award.
